About this Blog
jitney: 1 a nickel, 2 small bus used as public transportation, 3 any car, especially a cheap one, 4 a cheap cigar, a nickel cigar, 5 cheap (i.e. a jitney dance hall)
As much as I live a cheap lifestyle and as much as I truly meant for this blog to be about eating on jitneys, I often find myself spending $60.00 at the grocery store, largely on olives, mustards, and other assorted condiments. Most of the time, though, I like to mix together things I find in my refrigerator and cabinets, and call it DINNER.
Join me as I experiment, obsess, eat, and drink. Maybe some day we can go on a long walk to the Polish sausage shop/bakery and I will tell you about laughing coffee, and the secrets that lie within.

Cool site! Are you vegetarian or vegan by chance? I noticed your list of chicago eats are very vegelicious.

Sarah! I never knew that you were so crazy about food and drinks! I wish we lived closer so we could bang out some serious dinner parties, Joyce and I constructed an artichoke pie the other day that was phenomenal, you would have been proud. Anyways, hope you’re well!

I love your blog. I want to come to Chicago and eat macaroons with you. They are so unbelievably beautiful. Maybe you can ship some to me for a small trade of plum wine?
